Google Sees All – Big Update On Its Way
Search has proven to be one of the most helpful and convenient elements in our lives to date. If we want to learn physics, we do an Internet search. If we want to find new homes, we do an Internet search. If we want to purchase a new computer, we do an Internet search. If we want to make an Italian dish for dinner, we do an Internet search.
Consequently, having your webpage on the first page on a search engine’s search results often means fame and fortune. Search, undoubtedly, has topped the mind of any business owner, from the local plumber to the world distributors of electronics.
Search has gone through thousands of algorithmic patterns – always with the goal of filtering out pages that have tricked their way into the results, while at the same time, giving way to relevant and authoritative web pages.
The past 11 years of being an Internet Search Analyst has led me to be sure of one thing – Google sees all. I don’t know the details of how they do it, but I’m absolutely convinced that if, as a webmaster, you’re doing something against Google’s terms of service, you’re going to get caught. The amazing minds over at the Googleplex, for over 10 years, have shown that sooner or later they are going to algorithmically remove web pages tricking their way into results.
FUN FACT: A Google is a 1 followed by 100 zeros (actually spelled googol).
FUN FACT: A Googleplex is a 1 followed by a Google of zeros - 10(10100).
Here are some example you can be sure Google sees:
- Cloaking
- Hidden text
- Hidden links
- Doorway Pages
- Keyword stuffing
- Unscrupulous Redirects
- Auto content generators
- Fake websites, blogs, etc.
- Any type of unearned linking
Almost 12 percent of all websites were affected by the Panda update (aka farmer update). Buckle your seat belts – Panda 2.2 is coming soon. This big algorithm update is projected to affect web pages that display scraped data from other web sites. Apparently, there are web pages with scraped data that are out ranking the web pages with the original data.
