Preview Your Preview – Google Instant Preview Webmaster Tool
For the most part, Google Webmaster Tools just keep getting better and better. Now, there’s an Instant Previews tool that lets webmasters see what any page on their website will look like to the eye of the visitor.
In fact, the feature will show a preview of what the page will look like in the Chrome web browser, too. Google Instant Previews also provides a list of errors that it encounters when trying to render the previews. However, some are taking issue with a few of the tool’s features. For example, it has been reported that the errors it lists are rather long, and by webmasters who consider their sites to be fairly tight (in other words, it is a little too generous with the “error” label). Additionally, Google Instant Preview does not crawl or display flash (of course, some experts now contend that spending money on a flash website no longer makes sense, especially because Googlebot spiders don’t crawl over flash anyways).
However, many users have hailed Instant Previews’ praises, one even comparing it to “optimizing your profile picture on a dating site.” After all, if the Instant Preview doesn’t look right, then people won’t click on the search result because they’ll assume your site is sub-par. Sure, one or two lost clicks are no big deal; but when that effect is multiplied and the domino effect hits, your rankings for that keyword can easily fall. So with that in mind, Google Webmaster Instant Preview can be a rather valuable webmaster and search engine optimization tool.
